The Linville Gorge is referred to as the "Grand Canyon" of the NC. Perhaps the most famous North Carolina waterfall near Sugar Mountain is Linville Falls. Pass through the visitor center portico and take the Linville Gorge Trail to the right. This marks the end of the hike as well; return to your vehicle on the same trail.
